About Us

Christian Game Developers

The typical customer for our product is a person who currently may be playing video games that conflict with their ethical, moral, or religious values, or a parent, relative, or other game purchasers that have those concerns with respect to games they purchase for others in general and pre-teens and teens in particular.

As you can see both Liberals and Conservatives may fall into one of these categories. The Conservative parent may often be concenrned about the occult themes and overt sexual content displayed in most games. On the other hand, while the Liberal parent may not be as concerned about the occult influence, or sexual content, they are generally anti-gun and anti-graphic killing at the level displayed in most games on the market.

Our goal is to bring you high quality video games with Christian themes that promote Christian values.

Beginnings

Before Christ

From 1998 to 2003 I was a plot developer for several dice based and live action roleplaying games. I would create characters with a 2 to 3 page background/history, settings, and situations for the players to interact with each other in. The games I was involved in were dark in nature.

After Christ

I turned away from roleplaying games. I found them all to be dark and it seemed impossible to glorify Christ while playing/running them. I did, however, ask the Lord to redeem the time I had wasted in those six years.

The Idea

Three years later I was married and in the Air Force. I was based at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, OK. My beautiful wife (Vanessa) was visiting family in Greenville, SC. I had just come back from being TDY in Alaska. Vanessa became sick and was not able to take her flight back to Oklahoma because she was sick. I was going to pick her up. I prayed and told God that I would stop to sleep when I got tired. About an hour into the trip "The Idea" came to me and began to snowball into an entire fantasy world. I drove the entire 1200 miles without getting tired. I believe "The Idea" came from God.

"Chance" Encounters

Ralph Bagley – Game Developer

I had this great idea and no direction. I was curious as to how much it would cost to get a Christian graphic design artist to put what was in my head on paper. I googled "Christian 3d artist" until I found a phone number. When I called the number and asked for the name listed under the number I was told that he was not in at the moment. The voice on the other line asked if he could help me. I told him that I had an idea for a great Christian video game and just wanted some numbers. The guy on the other end chuckle in a deep voice and said, "Then you have got a hold of the right person. I’m the CEO of the company." He introduced himself. His name was Ralph Bagley (CEO of N’Lightning Software Development Inc). We talked and he became very interested in my idea. I found out that he had already put two games on the shelves. While I was talking to him I googled his name and I found that it was plastered all over the internet as THE person to consult on Christian Gaming. Later that week I went to a books store called Mardel and found that Ralph Bagley’s game (Catechumen) was one of the only two games on the shelf!

Kyle Clark – Historian/Writer/Lawyer

A good friend from my church in Oklahoma City (Calvary Chapel of OKC). He liked the idea for the game so much that he not only joined the company as my VP but he is also writing a Novel based in the fantasy world of Soterion. He has since become one of my best friends.

Manny Edwards – Director of the Georgia Christian Film Festival

Saw my myspace website and he and I have been networking since then.

Stephen Mitchell – Illustrator/Web Designer/Historian/Writer

Stephen is a long lasting friend of my in-laws. My mother-in-law showed me his website. When I saw his work I looked at her and said, "I have no revenue right now. I could not afford this kind of quality." My mother-in-law, being the persistent woman she is, kept reminding me about him. Finally I told her that I would call him. I called him, told him the idea, and shared details about the fantasy world with him. Steven told me that he liked the idea so much that he would do a logo for the game, concept art, and a map of Soterion. I hope to hire him once we get invested in. He is a great artist with 20 years of experience.

Albert Jones

I was doing some research on google and ran across the name Albert Jones. I read his bio and it spoke of him living in Greenville, SC (location of Lamplight Media) at one time. It also mentioned that he was a Christian Art Director with Marketing experience.

I emailed Al and we started talking. He informed me that he was currently working for the Pentagon as an illustration specialist. He also told me that he had a Masters degree with a double major in Marketing and Fine Arts from Bob Jones University. I had just attended a semester at Bob Jones so he and I had some fellowship over that. When I got to describing the game to him, he was very interested. He told me that if I could get Dr. Bob Jones III to endorse the game, he would sign on with my company. Later that day I schedule a meeting with Dr. Bob. Towards the end of July we got a chance to sit down and talk. Our 30 minute meeting turned into an hour meeting. It was a really great meeting. He encouraged me in what I am pursuing and told me that from everything I had told him about the game, it was a game that he would want his grandkids to play.

Needless to say, that was enough for Al. He has now joined our team as the Marketing Director of Lamplight Media LLC.
