Uknown unknowns
Going to meet a publisher in Montgomery. AL Saturday. A little nervous. Wondering what I should know before the meeting that I dont already know. A wise man once told me that you have three forms of knowledge: Known knowns, Known unknowns, and unknown unknowns. Known knowns are good, known unknowns are ok because you at least know and can do something to turn them into known knowns. However, in the known unknowns is death. So I dont know what I dont know but need to know for this meeting. lol. The one thought that prevails is that I am going to have to make sure Lamplight Media keeps all rights to creative material. We really want a publisher but not at the cost of everything else we are doing in the world of Soterion.

Here is a flier for those wishing to help get the word out:

Search Engine Optimization
So, I spent several hours last night using an SEO tool that would help me to optimize our website. Geez! I spent all that time and at the end I felt like I had gotten nowhere.
Dont feed the trolls
This is my blanket response to trolls. Let me first tell you what a troll is. The word "troll" is slang for someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages through the internet. There attacks normally target commenters and authors making comments that ate intended to provoke others.
Here is more about "Please dont feed the trolls":

Here is some "Lion King" imagery for you:
As the jackals pace about restlessly laughing at the cubs they plan to devour they are so busy laughing that they do not realize that the Lion is returning.
Some people feel inferior to those around them. The pack mentality is to strike out at those who they believe are weaker or not quite as smart as them. This strokes their ego and makes them feel better about their own inferiority. As said on the playground, "Nah nah boo boo, I'm smarter than you." Keep your inferiority complex.
"We should not be astonished if in the cases where we see an inferiority [feeling] complex we find a superiority complex more or less hidden. On the other hand, if we inquire into a superiority complex and study its continuity, we can always find a more or less hidden inferiority [feeling] complex."~ Alfred Adler
I have received a few emails from Christians that call my company and its work pagan in nature because of the sci-fi/fantasy themes used in the content with the claim to be Christian in nature. I have also received other emails of a discouraging nature from non-Christians.
Of course, it is human nature for others to see someone trying to create something that others do not yet fully understand and do something that they believe whole heatedly is a good thing and then others try to discourage them. For every 10 emails I get in support of the Christian Sci-fi/Fantasy novels/RPGS/video games we are working on, I get one from someone (Christian, Atheist, Agnostic, Satanist) who gains some form of enjoyment from sending emails flaming me or my company. This is typical. They want to destroy that which others are trying to build out of jealousy due to lack of their own creativity or courage to put themselves out there as others have.
To the troll: I will not be dissuaded. That which drives me is much more powerful than any provoking statement you can conjure. Go back under your bridge and find another victim. I am no easy prey. I will not respond.

Video for the playable investor demo we have been working on. Soterion is a fantasy world with 13+ races, 7 Kingdoms, and a well developed 2 thousand year history. I managed a team of 60 interns to create 117 three dimensional models and texture them. 20 of them were rigged and animated (some featured in this video). Then we imported them into the Unity 3D game engine into an environment we developed and pieced together. The demo is almost done, we are writing scripts for the programming side of it now and polishing it to make it look more professional.
Introduction
Some of you know me as Randy.
If you are family you may know me as Randy Jr. or 'little Randy'. Im 210 lbs now so I really dont get called that any more.
If I know you from Cardinal Newman (private Catholic School), you know me as the immature, dorky, socially awkward guy that called way too much attention to himself. I don't remember nicknames I had back then but Im sure they weren't positive in any way.
If I used to game with you, you might recognize me more by the names of characters I played: Sue (as in a boy named sue ~ by johnny cash), Myles Callaghan, Erestar Lurin, Dirk Doores, Havok, Matt, Grewwd, Spectre, Burlapn, Pacal Bahlum, Perrin, or you might just know me as a guy who ran LARP (LIVE ACTION ROLEPLAY) games in Charleston and Savannah for years.
If I knew you in the Air Force you might know me as Blackwell, Blackie, or Sparky.
If I have worked with you as a programmer you might know me as the guy who loves a good office prank.
If you work for me at Lamplight Media, you might know me as the guy that bugs people about deadlines.
Who I am now is a man with a vision. I would like to see Christian sci-fi/fantasy thrive more. I would like to see Christian Video Games on the same shelves as secular video games or even a separate section in Walmart. I want when people see 'Christian' in front of a media title (movie, novel, game, etc.) for them to think of the word "quality" rather than "low quality".
I spoke with a guy from Left Behind Games. Those guys got a bad rap. There was mis-information written about their game and the haters came out right and left. But one thing they told me gave me all of the encouragement I will ever need to keep going until Lamplight Media reaches its goals. At the bottom of their game they had a scrolling message that if you clicked on it would take you to sites that explained what salvation was and an email for any questions. Those guys received over 1000 emails from people who had come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ after following those links. That's all the fuel I need to run on for pretty much the rest of my life.
